Rise & Shine Confession: I will positively impact someone’s day.
Dear Aspen reader,
Have you seen the movie “Pay It Forward”? It’s an endearing story of a young boy who is challenged by his teacher to make a plan to change the world AND put it into action; a task that most adults would probably consider difficult, time consuming and costly.
Often times I feel that our culture considers large-scale endeavors such as international mission work, large financial donations or protesting at a capitol building to be the best form of “changing the world”. But this young boy takes on his challenge to change the world with great passion and great ease. By committing to help three people, then encouraging each of them to help three additional people, so on and so forth he creates a wave of change that spans beyond what he originally imagined. I ask you today, what can you do to change the world around you? Think reasonably, start small and be realistic in what you can commit.
And don’t forget the second part of the teacher’s challenge: put it into action.
How might you start a chain of events that puts your desire for change into action? What need does someone in your circle have? What issue remains in your community that you might be able to impact? To whom can you send a word or note of encouragement? Or maybe you’d even like to commit a random act of kindness, unknown to the recipient.
Today, I encourage you to look beyond your struggle, your pain, your dissatisfaction, or the inadequacies that you feel you have and think of someone else. How might you positively impact someone’s life today?
Go, do it.
In health,
Alecia
