Do you believe?
Dear Aspen reader,
#RiseAndShine
When you consider the statement “I believe in myself” does that bring confidence and give you a little pep in your step? Or do you struggle to repeat those words, finding fault in who believe you are?
There was a time that believing in myself and my abilities was a very foreign concept. It made me uncomfortable to talk about any positive qualities that I had and I shied away from opportunities where I might have excelled. I was unable to see my strengths as anything worth highlighting. There is such a fine line with believing in yourself as it can quickly cross over into a prideful attitude. But believing in yourself is also a direct representation of the level of value that you have for yourself.
Developing self-worth is such a process and one that cannot be taken lightly. Let me suggest a few ways that you can begin to develop your self-worth and start believing that you were uniquely created to do great things:
Spend time with people who encourage and lift you up: There is enough going on in the world that brings discouragement. And even social media is often used as a tool for destruction. We were created for relationship with others, so why not spend time with people who see your value and are ready to encourage you?
Read, read, read: Books offer a wide variety of encouragement and help for self-development. Part of wellness is knowing yourself, your motivators, and the development of your inner strength. Books are a great way to get you started on that path.
Self-talk: Watch what you say and make sure you are speaking uplifting words about yourself throughout the day. Talking positively to yourself sets you up for success and becomes the first step to building self-esteem and self-awareness.
In health,
Alecia
