Defining Purpose
Dear Aspen reader,
Do you ever spend moments considering the purpose of your life? Do you believe that you were put on this earth with a specific purpose in mind? You might be a person who jumps into situations with two feet but it’s more likely that you find yourself gently dipping your toes in the water, in fear of making a wrong decision that will halt your impact on the world around you.
Questioning life choices is common for many, as we traverse through winding paths, constantly wondering if our decisions will someday become a culmination of a beautiful masterpiece or if each decision functions separately from the others. It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that time is being wasted or that purpose is being unfulfilled as you are stuck in this grey area.
I want to urge you today, to spend moments developing your purpose. Here are a few simple ways that you can begin to define what that may be:
1. Volunteer: Is there are cause that you are interested in or a social group with whom your ideals align? Partner with them and start taking steps to see how your purpose might be developed within these contexts. Creating relationships with others who are like-minded may serve as a catalyst for your purpose.
2. Build awareness: Staying informed on personal or professional interests can help you to define purpose. Keeping up to date on current trends and opportunities may guide you as you build awareness within these arenas. This might look like following a specific account on Instagram or taking time to research topics of interest online. You never know what you’ll discover until you start paying closer attention.
3. Ponder, pray or meditate: Sometimes, what it really takes is to release the reins that we are tightly holding onto and taking a step back. Spending moments in prayer or meaningful thought can help redirect us to what our purpose may be. Life can be busy and our thoughts can easily overtake us so I encourage you to allow time for the beauty of your purpose to unfold.
Begin today by believing that your purpose is important and its development is possible. Release the pressure to define your purpose and simply walk into any direction you see fit. You’ll quickly learn which ways to go and how lovely your purpose truly is.
In health,
Alecia
