No excuses.

Dear Aspen reader,

Excuses. We’ve all given them at one point or another. Some of us may be more prone to give excuses in the area of social commitments and others when it comes to maintaining a healthy routine. On occasions, I’ve definitely made excuses for why I didn’t want to wake up for an early morning workout: My body needs some recovery time (When really it’s been 2-3 days since a good workout). Or given justification as to why attending an evening event was not doable: This week has just been SO BUSY. (And honestly, I know that being social is exactly what I need to break me out of my withdrawn routine.)

While I do feel that there is value in finding balance among the busyness of life, I find that once you are in a pattern of making excuses in the realm of wellness, it becomes easier and easier to become lax and eventually more likely to lead you on a downward spiral.

This week I want to encourage you to be a woman of ACTION. I want you to stare those situations in the face, the ones where you feel like offering excuses as to why you can’t find time for exercise, can’t prepare foods that are nutritious or can’t engage in self-care because others in your circle need you. Challenge yourself and push yourself toward growth by choosing effort over excuses. I want to invite you to step back and make your health a priority so that saying “no” to other opportunities allows you to say “yes” to walk the road to total wellness.

In health,

Alecia
